About The Position

This role is responsible for managing various financial and accounting functions, including developing and maintaining financial systems, managing audits, preparing financial reports and forecasts, overseeing depreciation, managing 401(k) and profit-sharing programs, managing expense accounts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing accounts payable and receivable processes. The position also involves advising on insurance coverage, directing payroll functions, and ensuring timely commission payments. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will train, supervise, and direct the work of accounting employees and IT contractors, ensuring the security and reliability of computer and network systems. All employees are required to adhere to Quality Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) policies and procedures and report any QFSMS issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university and 5-7 years of related experience required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of all levels of employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages.
  • Ability to effectively operate a 10-key calculator.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • The ability to retain confidential information is critical in this position.
  • The ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Windows environment (word, excel, various databases) and create and maintain spreadsheets is essential.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection at all times while on the manufacturing floor.
  • Must wear food safety protective equipment at all times while on the manufacturing floor: including hair nets, gloves and, if applicable, beard nets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain systems and procedures for evaluating financial activities.
  • Manage audit schedule for financial and 401(k) data and provide third party with details.
  • Prepare reports that summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past and present.
  • Determine depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Manage 401(k) and profit-sharing programs.
  • Manage expense account program.
  • Manage data and report as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Manage accounts payables. Review data for accuracy, correct data if necessary and post records. Create checks and manage payment to vendors.
  • Manage accounts receivable. Review data for accuracy, correct data if necessary and post records. Reconcile bank statements to general ledger.
  • Review inventory transactions daily for items that look unusual. Work with appropriate departments to review and/or correct areas of concern.
  • Advise management about insurance coverage for protection against property, liability, workers compensation, losses and potential liabilities. Control related documentation.
  • Direct payroll functions. Review data for accuracy and make corrections as necessary.
  • Maintain records to ensure sales personnel receive their commissions in a timely fashion.
  • Train, assign and direct work, evaluate, reward and discipline accounting employees.
  • Assign and direct IT contractors work to ensure computer and network systems security and reliability.
  • Understand and follow all Quality Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) policies and procedures.
  • Report problems with the QFSMS to a supervisor or manager.
