About The Position

My client is a well-established commercial construction company (~$125M in annual revenue, ~25 active projects at any given time ranging from 250K– 60M, all across the Bay Area) looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead their accounting function. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes real pride in accuracy — you'll oversee a small accounting team while staying close to the day-to-day details of payroll, AP/AR, financials, and insurance.

Requirements

5+ years of dedicated accounting experience in commercial GC construction.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Prior experience leading an accounting team.
Strong grasp of WIP reporting, job costing, and backlog analysis.
Authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Oversee payroll processing, including timecards, workers' compensation, 401(k) contributions, and quarterly/year-end reporting.
Manage accounts payable, including check processing, lien releases, 1099s, vendor setup, and credit card management.
Handle accounts receivable, including billing, invoice tracking and follow-up, deposits, and monthly close.
Perform banking and cash flow management, including reconciliations and cash management.
Manage financial reporting, including year-end close, WIP reporting, job costing, backlog analysis, and journal entries.
Oversee insurance renewals, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), audits, workers' compensation, general liability, and compliance.
Lead and manage a small accounting team of 3 direct reports, focusing on accuracy and efficiency.
