About The Position

My client is a well-established commercial construction company (~$125M in annual revenue, ~25 active projects at any given time ranging from 250K–60M, all across the Bay Area) looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead their accounting function. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes real pride in accuracy — you'll oversee a small accounting team while staying close to the day-to-day details of payroll, AP/AR, financials, and insurance.

Requirements

5+ years of dedicated accounting experience in commercial GC construction.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Prior experience leading a team.
Strong grasp of WIP reporting, job costing, and backlog analysis.

Responsibilities

Oversee payroll processing, including timecards, workers' compensation, 401(k) contributions, and quarterly/year-end reporting.
Manage accounts payable, including check processing, lien releases, 1099s, vendor setup, and credit card management.
Handle accounts receivable, including billing, invoice tracking and follow-up, deposits, and monthly close reporting.
Manage banking and cash flow through reconciliations and cash management.
Oversee financial reporting, including year-end close, WIP reporting, job costing, backlog analysis, journal entries, and collaboration with an outside CPA firm.
Manage insurance-related tasks, including renewals, COIs, audits, workers' compensation, general liability, and compliance.
Lead and mentor a small accounting staff (3 direct reports).
