About The Position

The Accounting Manager will oversee the daily activity and monthly reporting for property management and real estate operating entities. This key accounting role is responsible for effectively managing a team of staff and senior accountants. This includes delegating workloads while inspiring, motivating and assisting team members to ensure accurate and timely financials. In addition, the property accounting manager will work closely with the property management team to create standard operating procedures which ensure transactions are recorded in a consistent and efficient manner.

  • Experienced in real-estate accounting, with a focus in residential or multifamily property accounting
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of accounting methods, which include cash, accrual, and full GAAP, as well as an understanding of financial terms and principles

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct a team of accountants in preparing financials for single-family rental, multifamily, and commercial properties.
  • Lead the monthly property accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
  • Generate accurate and complete financial reports in a timely manner.
  • Review of reconciliations supporting the property accounting monthly close process and month-end balances.
  • Provide support in property accounting budget preparation and expense management activities.
  • Coach and mentor staff on the team, and review and approve staff work.
  • Collaborate with departments to determine and improve operational inefficiencies that impact the Company’s financial accounting processes.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of technology to enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting necessary to facilitate management review, control of property operations, and contribute to timely management decision-making.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures to ensure high quality and efficient accounting and reporting.
