About The Position

The Accounting Manager oversees the accounting department, managing daily operations, staff, internal controls and financial reporting. This role description is a general description of the essential job functions. It is not intended to describe all the duties the Accounting Manager may perform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years of experience
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.
  • Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Takes responsibility for the accuracy of general ledger, including recording or reviewing all journal entries, ensuring account reconciliations are prepared timely and reviewing results for anomalies.
  • Manages accounting team responsible for payroll, accounts payable, project accounting and cash receipts.
  • Leads and develops team, including mentoring and coaching.
  • Maintains robust internal controls and policies and procedures for accounting transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and federal regulations.
  • Evaluates business processes for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Serves as primary contact with the external accounting firm responsible for the annual audit.
  • Provides information necessary to complete the annual 990 filing.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports for leadership and financial analysis for department leaders.
  • Responsible for ad hoc reporting needs.
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Tracks and monitors progress on annual team goals and projects.
  • Prioritizes requests and can communicate the status of projects regularly.
  • Assists in developing annual goals.
  • Provides support to the Finance Director as needed.
