Position: Accounting Manager Department: Finance Reports to: Director of Finance and Administration Location: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic Organization: Saint George School (Nord Anglia Education) Purpose of the role: To lead the accounting function of the school, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information, compliance with local and international regulations (IFRS/NICs), and alignment with Nord Anglia Education's corporate guidelines. This role supports strategic decision-making through reliable and timely financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting and taxation.
  • At least 2 years in leadership or supervisory positions.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and tax compliance.
  • Solid knowledge of IFRS/NICs and local tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in the complete accounting cycle and preparation of financial statements.
  • Experience with ERP systems, especially Microsoft Dynamics and Navision Business Central (NavBC).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (data analysis, financial modeling, pivot tables).
  • Knowledge of payroll, TSS, and tax compliance.
  • Experience in audit processes.
  • Advanced English proficiency (C1 level or higher, reading, writing, and verbal communication), as all financial reporting and communication with Nord Anglia Education is done in English.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the monthly and annual financial closing process, ensuring accurate and timely reports.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with IFRS/NICs and corporate policies.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax obligations (ITBIS, 606, IR3, IR17, ISR, among others).
  • Ensure consistency and reconciliation of financial information across different areas.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports required by Nord Anglia Education.
  • Supervise the complete accounting cycle: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Supervise bank reconciliations and ensure adequate cash flow management.
  • Design, implement, and strengthen internal controls to ensure financial integrity and asset protection.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual budget, financial projections, and cash flow.
  • Monitor budget deviations and propose corrective actions.
  • Supervise the management of credit facilities and financial obligations.
  • Ensure adequate tax planning and compliance with current tax laws.
  • Supervise payroll calculation, withholdings, TSS, and other labor obligations.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes, ensuring their correct implementation.
  • Lead, develop, and manage the accounting team.
  • Drive continuous improvements in accounting processes, systems, and reports.
  • Ensure the proper use of ERP systems, including Microsoft Dynamics and Navision Business Central (NavBC).
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, as well as relationships with financial institutions and regulatory bodies.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate financial risks related to liquidity, compliance, and operations.
  • Supervise bank accounts, supplier payments, and financial commitments.
  • Ensure updated accounting records are available for audits.
