About The Position

Southwest Airlines Federal Credit Union is seeking a reliable Accounting Manager for their Dallas Branch, located at their corporate office near Love Field Airport. This role involves assisting in presenting financial statements for a federally chartered credit union in compliance with regulatory and accounting guidelines, under the supervision of the Vice President of Finance. The manager will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping to set up control systems. The ideal candidate is an organized professional with a great eye for detail, who is reliable and capable of working autonomously and collaboratively.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or other similar position.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Accounting degree or a minimum of 6-9 hours of college accounting preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and apply that knowledge to ensure compliance.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processing; including but not limited to budgeting, financial closure, and reporting.
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, etc.
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving.
  • Must pass a credit and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Support most aspects of accounting management.
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the accounting team and ensure the proper posting of journal entries, timely payment of invoices, and reconciliation of accounts for monthly closings, and other daily accounting functions.
  • Assist with daily cash management for the credit union.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts.
  • Participate in the preparation for the annual audit.
  • Help in the development of reports for management or regulatory bodies.
  • Review the credit union’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
  • Utilize accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records.
