The role is hybrid, in office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate to serve the unique needs of different audiences across departments
  • Actively seek ways to grow and be challenged using both formal or informal development channels; Accept assignments to broaden capabilities and learn from experience
  • Proven ability to manipulate and analyze financial data using various techniques and tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Five to seven years of experience and at least two years managing and developing staff
  • Proven ability to manipulate and analyze financial data

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the accounting staff; create a climate where staff are motivated to contribute to the achievement of credit union goals
  • Hold self and staff accountable to meet commitments
  • Recruit and hire accounting staff and conduct performance evaluations
  • Coordinate training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the accounting department daily flow
  • Prepare required financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and NCUA regulatory guidance
  • Assist in the preparation of activity reports, annual budget, and forecasts
  • Implement and improve financial and internal controls to ensure accurate accounting of credit union assets
  • Responsible for the Accounts Payable function
  • Responsible for Prepaids and Fixed assets management
  • Assist in implementing new projects and strategies to meet overall objectives of department and credit union
  • Assist auditors and examiners, providing information and documents needed for inquiries
  • Participate and collaborate with other departments on credit union initiatives
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining department's policies and procedures
  • Ensure department follows policies and procedures and attends all required training such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
