  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close, financial reporting, general-ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and audit support.
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or management experience with demonstrated responsibility for reviewing work, developing staff, managing accounting deadlines, and maintaining accountability for results.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/general-ledger and financial-reporting systems.
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, financial, and driving screening, as required by Company policy.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position regularly, operate a computer and standard office equipment, exchange accurate information, and occasionally carry office materials up to 20 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Experience with Unanet, CostPoint, NetSuite, SAP, or a comparable ERP/general-ledger platform.
  • Experience supporting government contractors or regulated environments, external financial audits, accounting-system implementations, or accounting-process improvement; specialized FAR/CAS/DCAA compliance expertise.
  • UKG, Paycom, Dayforce or other similar HCM.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, close processes, reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, financial-reporting controls, and external financial-statement audit support.
  • Ability to review and approve complex journal entries and reconciliations, identify accounting and financial-reporting risk, communicate conclusions clearly, and escalate government-contract or regulatory compliance questions to the appropriate Compliance owner.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage competing deadlines, delegate effectively, and drive timely results.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage confidential financial information with discretion and work independently in a collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and internal customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, including the close calendar, assignments, cutoff, issue resolution, review sequencing, and completion evidence.
  • Review and approve journal entries within delegated authority, ensuring accounting treatment, support, preparer and reviewer segregation, and posting evidence are complete.
  • Assign and review balance-sheet, bank, subledger, prepaid, accrual, fixed-asset, and other account reconciliations; ensure reconciling items are resolved timely.
  • Oversee review for accounts receivable and payroll interfaces, including subledger-to-general-ledger reconciliations, revenue and cash-application issues, and payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Oversee review and reconciliation H&W and other fringe-benefit expenses and liabilities.
  • Ensure Accounting reviews expense-report general-ledger coding before Accounts Payable posts the expense report, and resolve coding or period questions.
  • Oversee fixed-asset additions, depreciation, disposals, insurance and prepaid schedules, accruals, and related accounting entries and rollforwards.
  • Own Accounting requirements for general-ledger configuration, accounting import templates, Accounting access review, financial-reporting control documentation, testing, and change validation.
  • Review preliminary and final financial statements, account activity, supporting schedules, and material fluctuations before Controller review.
  • Prepare or review management reporting, financial-condition summaries, supporting schedules, and variance explanations; provide validated accounting information to support budgets, forecasts, and leadership decision-making.
  • Coordinate financial-statement audit and accounting-support requests, assign accounting source owners, review general-ledger support, and maintain an audit-ready accounting evidence index.
  • Support Compliance-led DCAA, FAR/CAS, internal-audit, and regulatory reviews with requested accounting records and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with Compliance when a change affects FAR/CAS, DCAA, contract, or regulatory requirements.
  • Support, but do not own, enterprise compliance, internal-audit, procurement, contract-administration, or ISO programs.
  • Supervise, train, develop, and review the work of the Accounting Lead and accounting staff.
  • Establish priorities, backups, performance expectations, and development plans.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cost & Pricing, the Financial Analyst, Operations, Legal, IT, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting and close processes.
  • Lead assigned accounting projects and accounting-system implementations, including requirements, testing, documentation, controls, issue resolution, training, and post-implementation validation.
  • Lead continuous improvement, documentation, and technology-enabled enhancements for Accounting and financial-reporting processes.
