About The Position

The Accounting Manager at Chaminade Resort & Spa oversees the daily accounting operations of the resort and spa, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with California labor and accounting regulations. This role works closely with department leaders and ownership to support operational efficiency, financial integrity, and the overall success of the property.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience in hospitality (hotel/resort preferred)
  • Previous supervisory or management experience required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and hospitality accounting practices
  • Experience with hotel accounting systems (e.g., M3, Maestro, Opera, or similar)
  • Proficient in Excel and accounting software
  • Thorough understanding of California payroll and labor compliance
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash handling, income audit, and general ledger
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition across rooms, food & beverage, spa, and retail outlets
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
  • Oversee payroll processing in compliance with California labor laws (meal/rest break compliance, overtime, penalties)
  • Review labor reports and work closely with HR on payroll audits and corrections
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls for cash, revenue, and expenses
  • Conduct regular audits of cash drops, POS systems, and departmental reporting
  • Coordinate external audits and provide supporting documentation as needed
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and ongoing forecasting
  • Monitor departmental expenses and provide variance analysis
  • Partner with department heads to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Supervise and train accounting staff (AP, AR, income audit, payroll as applicable)
  • Serve as a financial resource to department leaders
  • Communicate clearly with ownership, General Manager, and corporate partners
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and teamwork
