About The Position

The Unified Judicial System (UJS) is seeking an Accounting Manager to serve as a lead worker for the budgetary and clerks accounting systems. This role involves directing and monitoring accounting functions, implementing new procedures, training personnel, and providing financial information to meet the UJS's needs. Requirements

  • Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • Four years of accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background investigation is required for employment.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of the mechanics of an accounting system.
  • Knowledge of the state on-line accounting system.
  • Knowledge of state accounting procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting.
  • Knowledge of state budget procedures.
  • Skill in organization.

  • Ability to analyze situations, research needs, and find resolutions.

  • Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete an Employment Eligibility Verification, Form I-9.
  • Will be using E-Verify to complete employment eligibility verification upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as lead worker for Budget and Finance staff to ensure that the goals and objectives of the office are met.
  • Overseeing staff responsible for supervising the clerks of court accounting system and providing work direction in the accounting functions to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting policies.
  • Developing and maintaining accounting procedures by reviewing and recommending revisions as necessary.
  • Managing the accounting activity to maintain financial records and ensuring compliance with UJS, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Acting as the liaison for financial information between field staff and the Information and Technology (I/T) department to ensure computer programs are developed to fulfill the financial processes.
  • Reviewing annual financial statements and accrual documents prepared by the Senior Accountant for the UJS.
  • Reviewing judicial-related statutes and monitoring bills during the legislative session relative to clerks of court accounting procedures.
  • Participating in workgroups and/or advisory groups to gather and share financial information and ensure fiscal operations are maintained and followed within generally accepted accounting procedures.
  • Performing other work as assigned.
