About The Position

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to lead and develop a team of Senior Accountants across three functional areas: credit loss/allowance reserves (ASC 326), customer dispute, litigation, and insolvency reserves, and accounting for AR trade, non-trade, and related accounts, with AR reconciliations spanning all three areas. The team this role leads owns some of the company's most consequential AR and revenue-adjacent accounting judgments within a SaaS healthcare information technology environment serving small-to-medium, independent physician practices across a wide range of provider specialties, and works directly with Finance and senior leadership on strategic accounting matters. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting judgment — including a firm command of ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance given how closely AR and reserve accounts relate to revenue — with prior SaaS or technology industry experience and the managerial skill to prioritize, coach, mentor, and review the work of a specialized accounting team, comfortable partnering with senior and executive leadership on the P&L and forecast impact of key accounting estimates, and skilled at applying technical accounting guidance to help senior leaders structure complex transactions. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field – or equivalent (Required)
7-10 years relevant work experience (Required)
Accounting experience spanning AR/credit reserves, reconciliations, and/or public accounting (Required)
Excellent people management skills, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and staff development
Exceptional prioritization and time management skills across multiple concurrent workstreams and team members
Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to present complex accounting topics clearly to senior leadership
Ability to review, challenge, and approve the technical accounting judgments made by team members
Knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulatory requirements, ASC 326 (CECL) and ASC 606 methodology, and internal controls/SOX requirements
Firm understanding of and experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance, sufficient to make key determinations given the close interrelationship between AR/reserve accounts and revenue — particularly around customer disputes and billing errors that affect price concession treatment or revenue reversals
Ability to evaluate macroeconomic conditions and business/customer activity trends and translate them into appropriate adjustments to reserving methodology and estimates
Ability to translate technical accounting guidance into practical business decisions when structuring or evaluating complex transactions
Comfortable partnering with cross-functional leaders — including Finance, Sales, and Legal — on strategic accounting and forecasting matters
Detail-oriented critical thinker, able to identify the root cause of complex or ambiguous accounting issues and evaluate solutions that balance efficiency, expediency, and accuracy
Continuous process improvement mindset, with a track record of simplifying complex or inefficient processes without compromising accuracy or controls
Familiarity with healthcare IT industry dynamics — EHR, RCM, and payer interface/connectivity solutions — and how they influence billing errors, customer disputes, and reserve requirements

Revenue and billing systems experience (e.g., Zuora, Oracle, Salesforce, or comparable revenue automation platforms)
General ledger and ERP systems experience (e.g., Workday, Oracle, or comparable platforms)
SaaS or technology industry revenue and AR accounting experience, comfortable working across subscription and license-based revenue models
Healthcare IT industry experience — electronic health records (EHR), revenue cycle management (RCM), or payer interface/connectivity products — and familiarity with the billing and reimbursement complexities these products introduce
Experience managing reserves, reconciliations, or collections across a high-volume customer base of small-to-medium, independent physician practices spanning diverse provider specialties

Responsibilities

Ensures timely, accurate delivery of financial information to stakeholders across the organization.
Leads, coaches, mentors, and develops a team of Senior Accountants across three functional areas: credit loss/allowance reserves (ASC 326), customer dispute, litigation, and insolvency reserves, and accounting for AR trade, non-trade, and related accounts.
Reviews and approves account reconciliations, journal entries, and reserve calculations prepared by team members across all three functional areas, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
Overses credit loss/allowance reserves under ASC 326, ensuring expected credit loss estimates are appropriately calculated, supported, and recorded.
Applies ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance to review and approve accounting conclusions on the treatment of credit memos, billing errors, and customer disputes — often arising from the complexity of EHR, revenue cycle management, and payer interface products — determining whether each represents a price concession (revenue reversal) under ASC 606 or a bad debt consideration under ASC 326.
Overses accounting for AR trade, non-trade, and related accounts (e.g., unapplied cash) across a high-volume customer base of small-to-medium, independent physician practices, ensuring transactions are accurately classified and recorded.
Reviews supporting documentation and schedules prepared by the team for internal review and audit purposes.
Ensures the team consistently applies GAAP — including ASC 326 for credit loss/allowance reserves and ASC 606 for revenue-related determinations — in classifying and recording reserve activity, including identified customer dispute, litigation, and insolvency matters.
Continuously assesses and refines reserving methodology for credit loss/allowance (ASC 326) and customer dispute, litigation, and insolvency reserves, incorporating current macroeconomic conditions and business activity trends — including how payer reimbursement cycles and cash flow pressures facing independent physician practice customers affect their ability to pay, and in turn, the company's collectability risk and reserve requirements.
Prioritizes team workload and deliverables during the monthly close, balancing competing deadlines across reserve, AR accounting, reconciliation, and reporting functions.
Serves as an escalation point for complex or judgmental accounting issues identified by the team, applying critical thinking and technical accounting knowledge to resolve them thoroughly and accurately.
Partners with Finance and senior company leadership to assess the P&L and forecast impact of key accounting estimates and reserve trends.
Presents analysis, reserve trends, and accounting recommendations to senior and executive leadership as needed.
Applies technical accounting guidance to complex or non-standard transactions, working with leaders across the organization to structure deals in a way that aligns accounting requirements with strategic objectives.
Interacts with internal and external auditors, representing the team and ensuring timely completion of audit requests.
Proactively identifies and leads process improvement initiatives — simplifying overly complex or inefficient reserve, reconciliation, and reporting processes to improve efficiency and expediency without sacrificing accuracy.
Maintains and communicates current knowledge of GAAP (including ASC 326 and ASC 606), SEC requirements, and other relevant accounting regulations to the team.
Manages the performance, development, and career growth of direct reports, including goal-setting, coaching, mentoring, and development planning.
Completes special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned, often in direct support of Finance and senior leadership initiatives.
