About The Position

This role is responsible for leading the Financial Reporting function with 5 direct reports. Accountable for effective and efficient execution of critical processes relating to accuracy and completeness of information, compliance with US GAAP and maintaining a strong control environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in Financial Reporting and/or Corporate Accounting.
  • 2+ years management experience
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP
  • Proven understanding of concepts underlying the theory and practice of recording, classifying, examining, and analyzing financial transactions.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; flexible in dealing with change and shift in priorities to consistently meet deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and direct/supervise others
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other associates and outside vendors and maintain the highest level of company integrity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (moderately complex knowledge of Excel)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within public accounting a plus
  • Retail industry experience is a plus
  • CPA certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Independently and proactively manage all finance and accounting aspects related to leases, fixed assets, debt, returns reserve, receivables, corporate accruals, and other general accounting areas.
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, including overseeing preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and related reporting packages.
  • Ownership of the budget and bi-weekly forecast preparation for rent, depreciation, and certain reserves, which includes analysis and explanations of variances and timely identification of risks and opportunities relating to these areas.
  • Direct ownership of accounting for complex areas including leases and fixed assets.
  • Evaluate specific business transactions for proper accounting treatment and perform research and technical accounting assessments as needed.
  • Training and development for self and direct reports including providing clear/consistent direction on priorities, improving direct report abilities, maintaining moral, and providing growth/development opportunities.
  • Maintaining current accounting policies for the Company including researching current and upcoming accounting guidance.
