About The Position

This position monitors financial reports, accounts payable, IHS Compact funds, annual tax reporting, financial audits, payroll, general ledger, and operating and capital budgets. The role provides expertise to management and staff on accounting functions, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, procedural, and policy requirements. A key responsibility includes reviewing monthly departmental variance reports for accuracy. The role also requires upholding the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values, and demonstrating understanding and compliance with organizational policies, procedures, code of conduct, and work rules.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of typical office technologies such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and typical office software.
  • Working knowledge of accepted accounting standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of compact and grant funding.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing regulations.
  • Above average ability to communicate financial reports.
  • Experienced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Access.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of financial software applications.
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred) in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5 years performing administrative work in accounting or auditing, three years in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • 3 years in a supervisor or manager role.
  • Must have both general and supervisory experience if indicated.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the annual financial audit.
  • Monitor and maintain budgetary and fiscal constraints and responsibilities in accounting, including reviewing journal entries and ensuring reconciliation of Balance Sheet Accounts.
  • Review financial statements and general ledger accounts and entries for accuracy.
  • Ensure accounts payable is processed accurately and on schedule, paying close attention to authorizations to pay, documentation of receipt of goods or satisfactory performance of service, accurate amounts, and correct account coding.
  • Direct the preparation of all required tax forms within established deadlines, including W-2s, 1099s, 990, 941, and ESC reports, and ensure IRS files are kept in a logical and organized manner.
  • Direct preparation of annual personnel, capital operating and revenue budgets and completion of product as designated by Corporate Officers.
  • Ensure efficient procedures and effective use of corporate housing funds.
  • Ensure payroll is accurate and timely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
