About The Position

Nexthop AI is a fast-growing AI infrastructure company building high-performance networking products and solutions for leading cloud operators. The Accounting Lead oversees core financial operations, including accurate record-keeping, timely vendor disbursements, compliant month-end closing, and strong internal controls. This is a hands-on role focused on building scalable processes and controls as the company grows. The role coordinates accounting and accounts payable staff, streamlines payment workflows, and maintains general ledger integrity.

The Accounting Lead owns procure-to-pay activities, supports the month-end close, helps maintain accounting policies and controls, and drives system enhancements and automation. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams, supports audit schedules and tax filings with outside advisors, and assists the Assistant Controller with day-to-day financial activities and ad hoc projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on accounts payable and general ledger accounting experience.
• Strong US GAAP, close, and reconciliation skills.
• Experience with NetSuite and advanced Excel.
• Comfort using AI tools to automate accounts payable and accounting work.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working cross-functionally.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with NetSuite, FloQast, and Zip for procure-to-pay.
• CPA.
• Experience at a hardware, semiconductor, or high-growth startup.

Responsibilities

• Own procure-to-pay activities, including vendor onboarding, PO matching, approval workflows, payment runs, expense reimbursements, and 1099 reporting.
• Oversee invoice processing and vendor reconciliations, resolve billing discrepancies, manage vendor relations, and enforce internal controls against fraud.
• Assist with month-end close and prepare and review entries for accruals, payroll, and other activities.
• Support implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Build internal controls toward SOX readiness and drive automation across NetSuite, Zip, and AI tools.
• Lead or support accounting system enhancements, automation initiatives, and workflow improvements.
• Develop standardized procedures, documentation, and key performance indicators for AP and GL activities.
• Use technology and automation to improve transaction processing, reconciliations, and financial close efficiency.
• Partner with IT and business teams to resolve system issues and improve accounting data integrity.
• Prepare audit schedules and support federal, state, and sales and use tax filings with outside advisors.
• Support the Assistant Controller with day-to-day financial activities and ad hoc projects.
