About The Position

Meritage Homes is seeking a motivated student for an Accounting Internship starting in June 2026. This program is designed to provide interns with a deep understanding of the homebuilding industry and Meritage's business model. The internship includes a structured schedule: full-time (40 hours per week) from June 2026 to August 2026, and part-time (24-28 hours per week) from August 2026 to April 2027. A commitment of at least one year is preferred, continuing part-time during the academic year. Interns will work closely with internal business leaders, learn core values, translate classroom knowledge into practical application, participate in cross-functional projects, present recommendations to senior leadership, and write a paper on their experience or an assigned topic. Meritage Homes does not provide Visa sponsorship.

  • Actively enrolled in a degree program from a regionally accredited university or college

Responsibilities

  • Preparing daily cash posting entries
  • Monthly cash accounting reconciliations
  • Book HUDS and closing statements
  • Book journal entries
  • Preparing reports and working on quarterly SEC filings
  • Special adhoc projects
  • Work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model and an assigned functional area such as construction, land, marketing, operations, purchasing, finance, human resources, etc.
  • Learn our core values and why they drive everything we do
  • Translate classroom experience into practical application during the internship
  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving other interns and business leaders centered around current business challenges
  • Present real world business recommendations to senior leadership that can help drive our strategy
  • Write a paper focusing on the experience or another assigned topic
