Accounting Intern (Summer 2027)
About The Position
Pattern Energy is seeking a motivated Accounting Intern to join its Houston office for Summer 2027. The intern will work alongside the Settlements team and gain hands-on experience with financial and operational activities supporting Pattern Energy’s renewable energy portfolio. The role supports settlements activities, data analysis, and reconciliations while collaborating with Accounting and other business partners. The internship also offers practical experience in accounting and an opportunity to learn how market activity, energy transactions, and financial reporting connect within a renewable energy company. The intern will research and document Settlements Accounting processes, organize documentation for accounting data requests, and work with Accounting and cross-functional partners to understand the financial lifecycle of renewable energy transactions. The intern will complete a summer project and present findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship. Learning opportunities include applying accounting concepts to renewable energy transactions; gaining exposure to settlements, reconciliations, invoicing, and financial reporting; and building analytical, Excel, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of accounting principles.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and financial information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with an interest in developing more advanced analytical skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
