About The Position

The Accounting Intern will play a vital role in supporting the financial operations within an educational services environment in Canada. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in accounting practices, enabling the intern to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world financial tasks. The intern will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and institutional policies. Through collaboration with the finance team, the intern will gain insight into budgeting, auditing, and financial analysis processes specific to the educational sector. Ultimately, this role aims to develop the intern's professional accounting skills while contributing to the efficient financial management of the organization.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Nice To Haves

• Previous internship or work experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and educational sector financial practices.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual abilities in English and French are considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of financial statements and reports.
• Support the accounts payable and receivable processes by verifying and processing invoices and payments.
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with the finance team to assist in budget tracking and variance analysis.
• Participate in internal audits and help ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
