We are actively seeking Accounting Interns. This is a non-exempt, temporary, full-time assignment, reports to the Accounting Manager. The Accounting Intern provides administrative and accounting support to the Finance Department while gaining hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. This position assists with a variety of accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, data entry, financial reporting, and general administrative duties. The intern will work closely with members of the accounting team to develop practical knowledge of accounting principles, financial systems, and internal controls while supporting the day-to-day operations of the department.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Completion of introductory financial accounting coursework.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software systems and business processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Junior or Senior standing in an accredited undergraduate program.
  • Prior internship or office experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and pivot tables.
  • Exposure to ERP or accounting software is a plus.
  • Accounting emphasis preferred for Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing accounts payable invoices, expense reports, and vendor documentation.
  • Support accounts receivable activities, including customer payments, invoice research, and account follow-up.
  • Perform data entry into the accounting and ERP systems while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and supporting documentation using Microsoft Excel.
  • Assist with monthly account reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
  • Organize, scan, and electronically file accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Assist with fixed asset record maintenance and inventory documentation as assigned.
  • Research accounting discrepancies and assist with resolving routine issues.
  • Compile financial information for internal reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, and employee information.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls.
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
