About The Position

This Accounting Instructor provides high‑quality instruction in accounting and related business areas to support student learning, skill development, and career readiness. This role includes teaching a range of accounting courses, developing inclusive learning environments, collaborating with colleagues on curriculum and assessment, and engaging with industry partners to ensure program relevance. The instructor plays a key role in preparing students for transfer pathways, entry‑level accounting roles, and professional advancement. This position represents SCTCC’s commitment to serving its community by partnering and investing in students as they attain the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to serve the Saint Cloud and surrounding communities. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a commitment to creating an inclusive curriculum and environment where students from our community will thrive. This position is a full-time position teaching from approximately mid-August through mid-May with the option to teach a summer class. This position includes in person and online classes. Class times vary but are typically held Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in accounting or a master's degree in any field with a minimum of 16 graduate semester credits (24 graduate quarter credits) in accounting or Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and a CPA or CMA certificate.
  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in accounting.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement to be completed and approved within the first 3 years of employment course construction (credit course) teaching/instructional methods (credit course) student outcomes assessment/evaluation (credit course) philosophy of community and technical college education (credit or non-credit course)
  • Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status. These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired.   • This course shall be waived for individuals who, at the time of hire, have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.3)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Payroll Accounting, Managerial/Cost Accounting, Taxation, Legal Environment, Auditing, and Government and Non-Profit Accounting.
  • Experience integrating simulation-based learning technologies into curriculum
  • Teaching experience at the postsecondary level, preferably at a two-year college
  • Prior on-line experience using D2L Brightspace platform or equivalent information management system
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality instruction and continuous improvement
  • Ability to apply equity-minded practices to support the academic success and engagement of students from diverse backgrounds and with varied abilities and interests

  • Experience in curriculum development at the professional level

  • Facilitate student learning in undergraduate-level courses in accounting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and students, to cultivate an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environment.
  • Stay current with trends in accounting standards, technology, and instructional best practices.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, effective course content through lectures, hands-on activities, and real-world applications.
