About The Position
Yonkers Contracting Company is seeking motivated students for its Summer 2027 Accounting and IT Internship Program. Interns will gain experience supporting accounting or information technology functions in a heavy civil construction company. Accounting interns assist with accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliation, project-cost tracking, financial records, and construction accounting processes. IT interns provide help desk support, troubleshoot technology issues, assist with equipment setup and tracking, and support user accounts, system updates, and documentation. The internship is paid and includes mentorship from experienced industry professionals, with potential for full-time opportunities.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and coding.
- Help reconcile accounts, track project costs, and maintain financial records.
- Learn construction accounting processes, including job costing, subcontractor payments, and requisitions on public works projects.
- Provide help desk support and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Help set up, configure, and track computers, mobile devices, and other equipment for office and field sites.
- Assist with user accounts, system updates, and IT documentation.
