About The Position

The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for the processing of invoices, reconciliations, journal entries, and account monitoring. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with a sound knowledge of accounting practices. Must have the ability to collaborate with people at every level.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance or related job experience.
  • Possess a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet established deadlines.
  • Able to communicate (written and verbal) effectively, tactfully, and professionally with employees, management, and vendors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrate propensity in using AI tools to develop spreadsheets and improve processes.
  • All positions must adhere to standard BSA/AML policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Employees must demonstrate awareness of business functions and how business decisions affect financial and/or non-financial work results.

Responsibilities

  • Process invoices through the full Accounts Payable cycle including capturing, recording expense, obtaining authorization, and payments.
  • Verify vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Reconcile accounts payable, internal bank accounts, and various other balance sheet accounts.
  • Review and process employee reimbursements.
  • Input prepaid expenses and fixed assets into their respective modules in accounting software (Prologue); run month-end depreciation and amortization files.
  • Post journal entries for ACH and NG checks into Prologue.
  • Balance bank deposits, ensuring proper credit from our corporate financial institution.
  • Inform branch managers/head tellers of all necessary adjustments (overlapping images, suspense adjustments, etc.).
  • Monitor internal accounts through the core system (OSI) and create processing sheets for the clearing of settlement items. This includes money order sales and new account openings funded with an external source.
  • Reconcile shared branching daily and create journal entries for clearing and adjustments.
  • Monitor general ledger accounts after daily postings to validate certain balances and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Assist members of the accounting and finance team with special projects.
