About The Position

This role is responsible for managing U.S. corporate tax obligations, including quarterly and annual tax provision bookings, adjustment data preparation, and filing data review. It also involves preparing state sales tax filing data, managing exemption certificates, verifying tax rate application, and confirming nexus determinations. The position requires monitoring and managing state and local compliance filing requirements, coordinating data submissions to external tax firms, and facilitating communication with outsourced personnel. Additionally, the role includes recording and reconciling import/customs costs, reclassifying in-transit accounts, and verifying import payment remittances. The Accounting Assistant Manager will operate and maintain tax platforms such as Avalara and corporate tax systems, and manage Sunshine Act reporting. In terms of accounting close and asset management, the role executes monthly close processes, manages the fixed asset lifecycle, and performs account reconciliations. It also involves coordinating with outsourced accounting personnel for month-end close activities and financial reporting. For treasury and cash management, the position reviews payment requests, supports timely payment execution, and manages accounts payable. Collaboration with outsourced personnel and internal stakeholders is key for efficient cash management and payment operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong exposure to U.S. tax compliance (corporate tax, sales tax, nexus analysis)
  • Hands-on experience with Avalara or similar sales tax platforms
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and month-end close processes
  • Experience managing fixed assets and accounts payable functions
  • Ability to independently coordinate with external tax counsel and vendors
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience managing relationships with outsourced personnel and cross-functional stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage state and local compliance filing requirements; coordinate data submissions to external tax firms
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with outsourced personnel, including external tax firms and accounting service providers, to ensure timely and accurate completion of compliance and reporting requirements
  • Record and reconcile import/customs costs, reclassify in-transit accounts, and verify import payment remittances
  • Operate and maintain tax platforms including Avalara, corporate tax systems, and Sunshine Act reporting
  • Execute monthly close processes including journal entry preparation, supporting documentation, and account code/cost center verification
  • Manage fixed asset lifecycle including additions, depreciation review, transfers, disposals, and periodic physical inventory reconciliation
  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of closing data
  • Coordinate with outsourced accounting personnel to support month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables
  • Review payment requests and support timely payment execution; verify wire transfers and settlements
  • Manage accounts payable including invoice review, payment scheduling, and vendor payment processing
  • Collaborate with outsourced personnel and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient cash management and payment operations
