The Accounting Assistant, under general supervision, provides support for the State Accounting Manager. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four (4) years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree Preferred.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Famis, Cascade (or Word Press) and Banner.

Responsibilities

  • Applies, interprets, and communicates policies and procedures and serves as a resource for answering questions regarding policies.
  • Maintains a variety of fiscal and administrative records.
  • Posts information to agency records and modifies forms or records.
  • Verifies, processes, and reviews forms, reports, and other documents.
  • Performs reconciliations of various funds and accounts.
  • Assists with various reporting obligations performed by accounting.
  • Completes other required tasks as assigned.
  • Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
  • Responsible for data entry and edits in USAS (Uniform Statewide Accounting System)
  • Responsible for reconciliation and clearing of outstanding items in Revolving account.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate submission of tuition remission, and sales tax remittance.
  • Responsible for review of departmental deposits and related follow up on any issues.
  • Assists State Accounting Manager with duties imperative to the department’s function
  • Other duties as assigned.
