About The Position

The Accounting and Budget Specialist is responsible for preparing budgets, amendments, presentations, and budget narratives. Performs a variety of accounting functions and applies accounting principles and methods in maintaining the fiscal records and systems of Genesee Intermediate School District.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, or related field required; advanced accounting/business coursework and graduate-level credit preferred.
Minimum five years of accounting and/or business management experience required, or demonstrated ability to successfully perform the essential duties; SchoolsOPEN experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger functions; advanced Microsoft Excel and integrated accounting system skills; excellent problem-solving, organization, communication, confidentiality, customer service, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

Prepares and manages budgets, budget amendments, financial projections, reconciliations, journal entries, expenditure controls, and financial analyses.
Analyzes complex accounting transactions, verifies financial data, prepares financial and statistical reports, supports audits, and ensures compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and accounting standards.
Provides fiscal guidance and technical assistance to departments, resolves accounting and finance issues, supports day-to-day operations, and assists with developing and improving Business Services procedures.
