About The Position

The position of Accounting Analyst for The Coury Firm (the “Firm”) will be responsible for supporting the Firm’s Director of Accounting and Finance with the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions across the Firm. Core responsibilities include managing the accounts payable and accounts receivable cycles, processing daily banking and cash management activity, preparing monthly reconciliations and financial statement support, and providing broader administrative support to the Firm’s accounting and operations functions. This role is also a strong opportunity for a candidate who wants to build on the fundamentals of accounting and grow into the finance side of the department in an analyst capacity. Over time, the Accounting Analyst will take on increasing responsibility for variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation and review of financial statements, supporting the Firm's broader financial planning and reporting efforts. This position requires working closely with the Director of Accounting and Finance and other members of the Firm’s accounting, operations, and HR/payroll functions, as well as with outside partners such as the Firm’s bank, to ensure the accurate and timely completion of the Firm’s day-to-day financial operations.

Requirements

  • Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within a professional services, financial services, or family office environment.
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (or similar general ledger software).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and building templates to automate recurring tasks.
  • Experience utilizing AI tools to support or automate accounting and bookkeeping processes.
  • Demonstrated interest in identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities within the accounting function.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines - daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual - across several entities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and personal information.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Director of Accounting and Finance and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices and payments through ACH, check, or American Express; maintain supporting documentation in QuickBooks and resolve billing issues.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc client invoices across the Firm’s revenue lines, including commission, retainer, AUM, OCIO, 401(k), and other applicable billings.
  • Process client check deposits, distribute commission statements, and prepare quarterly AUM pre-billing reports and variance analysis.
  • Monitor daily bank feeds and coding, maintain the chart of accounts, and clear unspecified profit and loss postings.
  • Prepare monthly bank and American Express reconciliations and format consolidated balance sheet, profit and loss, and cash flow reports.
  • Perform entry-level variance analysis by comparing actual results to budgets, forecasts, or prior periods and helping identify key drivers of differences.
  • Support root-cause problem solving by researching discrepancies, asking thoughtful questions, and helping resolve accounting or reporting issues accurately.
  • Assist with reviewing and preparing profit and loss statements and the three core financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
  • Assist with annual 1099 preparation and provide financial information requested by the Firm’s external tax preparer.
  • Review bank activity, prepare daily cash transfers and deposits, and produce the weekly cash report.
  • Support check, wire, payroll, and other payment activity, including quarterly advisor payout schedules.
  • Prepare employee expense and mileage reimbursements, COBRA and miscellaneous invoices.
  • Coordinate documents, support management reporting, and assist with special accounting and operational projects.
  • Identify manual or recurring tasks suitable for improvement; build and maintain Excel templates, formulas, pivot tables, and other streamlined workflows.
  • Evaluate and apply approved automation and AI tools to improve the speed, accuracy, and consistency of accounting processes.
