About The Position

This role is responsible for providing accounting advisory services to clients, consulting on complex technical accounting matters that arise from regulatory or strategic business changes. These changes can include new accounting standards adoption, accounting standards application, accounting framework conversions, Initial Public Offering readiness, financial statement carve-outs, and on-call accounting advisory services. The manager will be expected to manage client expectations, resolve technical and service issues, lead change efforts, and deliver high-quality work on time. Communication with client stakeholders, including external auditors, audit committees, and client management, is crucial for identifying, assessing, and delivering substantiated advice. The role also involves identifying relevant regulatory and market trends, serving as an active member in the market, building relationships, and leveraging company networks to identify new opportunities. Collaboration within the Accounting Advisory Service teams, CFO Advisory practice, and across regional and functional teams is expected to identify whitespace opportunities and provide an integrated client experience. The manager will supervise 2-5 Senior Associates per engagement.

Requirements

  • Three or Four Year Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, a related field, or a foreign equivalent.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or accounting/finance/advisory related job titles.
  • Experience providing financial statement audits, accounting advisory, or similar transaction advisory consulting services.
  • Experience with accounting standards such as US GAAP, and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience researching, evaluating, applying, and documenting conclusions on complex technical accounting matters in a technical accounting memorandum.
  • Experience interpreting and applying financial statement reporting requirements, including drafting private and public company financial statements and related footnote disclosures.
  • Experience assisting clients in complying with SEC financial reporting requirements (10Ks, 10Qs and other public filings).
  • Experience with procedures and standards under both AICPA and PCAOB frameworks to ensure audit quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with accounting standards including business combinations, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and intangible asset valuation.
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) licensure/membership (US or other jurisdictions) required.
  • Up to 30% domestic travel required to various client sites across the U.S.
  • Must live within a commutable distance to the assigned Grant Thornton Office location to meet 3 days per week work from office requirement.
