About The Position

Aston Carter is partnering with a growing construction client in North Kansas City seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Administrator to support certified payroll, accounts payable, and general accounting functions. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate payroll records, processing invoices, supporting compliance requirements, and assisting the accounting team with administrative tasks. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with relevant accounting or administrative internship experience, a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or 2+ years of experience in a similar accounting support role. We are seeking someone with exposure to Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll, invoicing, and general accounting processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field or 2+ years of relevant accounting/administrative experience.
  • Experience with Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll, invoicing, or bookkeeping.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn new systems and work with multiple software platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant accounting or administrative internship experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with certified payroll.
  • Construction or project-based industry experience.
  • Experience supporting accounting teams and working with cross-functional departments.

Responsibilities

  • Enter and maintain certified payroll data for employees and subcontractors with a high level of accuracy.
  • Communicate with project managers, project coordinators, and subcontractors to resolve payroll-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Support certified payroll compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Process invoices and perform accounts payable data entry.
  • Assist with accounts receivable, payroll administration, and general bookkeeping functions as needed.
  • Create, maintain, and update reports using Microsoft Excel.
  • Organize and maintain payroll, accounting, and project documentation.
  • Provide administrative support to the accounting department.
  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Assist with process improvements and other accounting-related projects.
