About The Position
ELS is hiring an Accountant in Chicago, Illinois. The Cash Accountant/Bank Rec Lead develops, maintains, and recommends policies and procedures to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and completion of financial reports and reconciliations. The position is responsible for a portfolio of property bank reconciliations, recording journal entries, and researching complex variances related to bank and book activity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- At least two years of accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts, particularly journal entries and bank reconciliations.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, drive projects to completion, and meet deadlines.
- Proactive and results-driven approach.
- Strong financial acumen, including problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile complex bank accounts daily and balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Examine ledger details, analyze transactions, and adjust entries when necessary.
- Prepare quarterly aging schedules of outstanding reconciling items.
- Identify and recommend changes and improvements to accounting policies and procedures.
- Lead projects to streamline and improve the monthly close process, including software integration and implementation projects.
- Communicate daily with property managers and property accountants.
