About The Position

Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking an Accountant to join their team in Lawrence in a newly created, fully onsite role. This position is a top priority hire, and the client is looking to move quickly on the right candidate. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, which is required. Manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred. In this role, the Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting functions of the team and will occasionally act as backup support for AP/AR when needed. The Accountant is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial records and filings. This position partners closely with senior accounting team members to support general ledger activities, month-end close, tax compliance, and more complex accounts receivable and payable processes, while providing professional support to both internal teams and external contacts.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience is required
  • Bachelors in Accounting is required
  • Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS, etc) required

  • Manufacturing experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the month-end close process by preparing and reviewing journal entries, completing general ledger account reconciliations, and assisting with the production of accurate financial reports.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including tracking additions and disposals and performing periodic reconciliations.
  • Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns and other required federal and state tax filings accurately and on schedule.
  • Assist with the review and maintenance of customer tax exemption documentation and ensure appropriate tax treatment of transactions.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to sales and use tax matters in a professional and timely manner.
  • Lead the preparation and filing of annual 1099 forms in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Compile and organize financial data and documentation to support external partners during annual tax preparation processes.
  • Provide support for accounts receivable and accounts payable activities, including the resolution of complex transactions.
  • Prepare recurring reports to reconcile transaction activity for online or customer-facing platforms and assist in resolving variances.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and accepted accounting standards.
  • Assist with additional accounting and finance-related projects and duties as assigned.
