The reporting structure is directly to the Controller with indirect reporting to the Manager of Accounting & Reporting.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Internship and/or professional accounting experience.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality and integrity.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and organize efficiently.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must have a customer-centric focus and view the accounting function as a service provided to Operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience as an accountant.

Nice To Haves

  • Restaurant or hospitality industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes accounting records, including financial statements, and other reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
  • Reviews general ledger accounts and prepares related recurring month-end, and adjustment journal entries.
  • Performs account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Posts monthly, quarterly, and annual accruals.
  • Assists in maintaining fixed asset systems for accounting, processing, and reporting of fixed assets. This includes fixed asset reconciliations and recording of additions/disposals in the fixed asset subledger.
  • Records payroll entries and accruals.
  • Participates in special projects as necessary.
  • Files local mercantile tax returns.
  • Maintains source data/backup files and ensures that it is well organized for year-end audit.
  • Prepares monthly schedules that summarize the transactions in various expense accounts for Operations.
  • Answers financial and accounting questions regarding significant variance from trend and budget by researching and interpreting data.
  • Assists the Manager of Accounting & Reporting and Controller as needed.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary and required as position evolves.
