About The Position

First Atlantic Federal Credit Union is seeking an ONSITE Accountant to provide support services to staff and internal clients. The position entails the application of accounting principles to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports and reconciliations in accordance with GAAP. The role involves handling system data inputs, accounts payable review, coordination of business card statements, preparation of entries for CD interest and miscellaneous checks, maintaining accurate reporting of CDs in the investments system, reviewing and correcting differences in investment reporting, preparing daily cash activity and trend analysis, assisting with month-end close entries, compiling and analyzing financial information for general ledger entries, handling account reconciliations, identifying and analyzing significant fluctuations in account balances, timely preparation of GL reconciliations, and assisting other members of the accounting department as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates / Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting
  • two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Handles system data inputs and proofing of results for varied systems, Prologue, DNA, etc.
  • Accounts Payable review of invoices and retrieval of support, approvals, signatures, and payment of vendors.
  • Coordinate distribution of monthly business card statements to each Department Manager, and ensure they are returned timely and accurately with proper documentation and signatures.
  • Prepare entries for CD interest and other miscellaneous checks received by the Dept.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate reporting of CDs in the investments system.
  • Ensure that investments reporting agrees to the GL every month.
  • Review and correct any differences before month-end.
  • Prepare daily cash activity, proof shares and loans trend analysis.
  • Assist with entries for month end close; fixed assets, prepaids, accrued expenses and other varied month end responsibilities in accordance with procedures.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Handles account reconciliations, as directed.
  • Assist in the identification and analysis of significant fluctuations in account balances.
  • Report findings to the Supervisor and assist with follow-up actions, as requested.
  • Timely preparation of GL reconciliations and timely resolving outstanding items in accordance with procedures.
  • Assist other members of the accounting department, as needed, or assigned by the Supervisor.
