About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for independently managing and analyzing key areas of the Company’s accounting and working capital activities, including cash, accounts receivable, customer advances, reserves, and related general ledger functions. The position exercises independent judgment in evaluating financial information, resolving accounting issues, maintaining internal controls, and recommending appropriate accounting treatment and process improvements. The role also supports broader accounting operations, month-end close, international entities, and financial reporting. Located in Palo Alto, California, Microwave Power Products, Inc. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-entity environment.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting, working capital, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information, resolve complex accounting issues, and exercise independent judgment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and process improvement preferred.
  • Applicants must be able to comply with applicable export control requirements.
  • For security clearance position, the candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance as required, holding a security clearance is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee key accounting processes, including cash, accounts receivable, customer advances, reserves, accruals, and related general ledger accounts.
  • Analyze financial information and trends, identify unusual or significant items, determine appropriate accounting treatment, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Exercise independent judgment in resolving complex customer, accounting, reconciliation, and working capital issues and advise management on their financial impact.
  • Manage and evaluate the Company's AR allowance, customer advances, cash activity, and other working capital balances, including developing supporting analyses and recommendations.
  • Oversee accounting activities associated with AP support, P-Cards, intercompany transactions, and international offices.
  • Lead assigned month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and supporting schedules.
  • Develop and maintain accounting processes, policies, procedures, and internal controls, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with Operations, Sales, Purchasing, and other functions to resolve financial issues and improve business processes.
  • Support internal and external audits, financial reporting, and other accounting and financial projects as assigned.
