About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Accountant to lead core accounting operations and support the financial infrastructure of a growing multi-entity organization. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable operating independently, improving processes, and working through complexity while maintaining strong reporting accuracy and close timelines. You will work closely with leadership and play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting across Canadian and U.S. operations.

Requirements

  • 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Proven ownership of full-cycle accounting responsibilities
  • Hands-on experience independently managing month-end close
  • Experience preparing complete financial statements and supporting analyses
  • Strong experience using QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems
  • Advanced Excel proficiency including lookups, pivot tables, and data validation
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and financial reporting
  • Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies independently
  • Comfortable working with imperfect or incomplete datasets and improving data accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in multi-entity environments, particularly across Canada and the U.S.
  • Exposure to U.S. sales tax compliance and multi-state filings
  • Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations
  • Exposure to multi-currency environments and foreign exchange impacts
  • Previous experience in SaaS, technology, or high-growth companies is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Own the full accounting cycle including general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
  • Review and approve work prepared by the accounting technician
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, and banking activities
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records within QuickBooks Online
  • Ensure proper intercompany accounting and reconciliations between Canadian and U.S. entities
  • Lead and execute the monthly close process within strict timelines
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies proactively
  • Support internal reporting and external reporting requirements
  • Manage U.S. sales tax registrations, filings, and ongoing compliance
  • Coordinate multi-state regulatory obligations
  • Support year-end close activities and collaborate with external accountants
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Contribute to KPI reporting and financial analysis
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
  • Strengthen reporting reliability and operational controls
