About The Position

This is a highly responsible professional accounting work in managing the fiscal reporting activities in DCFS. The work involves office responsibility for maintaining the assigned federal grants with emphasis on planning, coordinating and controlling the financial management functions to ensure the proper reporting and utilization of the federal financial resources. Requirements

  • Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and verifies monthly expenditure reports from the LAGov accounting system to determine the expenditures that have incurred for the programs managed by the incumbent
  • Monitors revenues and expenditures in conjunctions with other fiscal, budget, and program personnel to assure the availability of dollars needed to fund all appropriated expenditures.
  • Maintains cash management records utilizing guidance established by the Division of administration for management if the federal Cash Management Improvement Act.
  • Confers with and provides information to the state legislative auditors in regards to the annual fiscal report.
