About The Position

The Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial health, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness of NCC Solutions Inc., a nonprofit organization providing ICF and Medicaid Waiver services to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position manages daily accounting functions, supports Medicaid billing and reimbursement processes, prepares financial reports, and ensures compliance with nonprofit, state, and federal regulations. The Accountant provides accurate, timely financial information that enables the CEO and leadership team to make informed strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of accounting experience; nonprofit or healthcare/human services experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with developmental disability services, including Medicaid Waiver and ICF billing, required.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related entries.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare financial schedules, supporting documentation, and audit-ready files.
  • Monitor cash flow, deposits, and bank activity to support organizational stability.
  • Support Medicaid Waiver and ICF billing processes, ensuring accuracy of service units, documentation, and reimbursement claims.
  • Reconcile Medicaid payments, denials, and remittances; identify discrepancies and coordinate corrections.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure billing documentation meets Ohio DODD, CMS, and Medicaid requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of reimbursement rules, rate structures, and billing compliance standards.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the CEO and leadership team.
  • Conduct variance analyses, cost tracking, and trend reviews to support strategic planning.
  • Assist with annual budget development and ongoing budget monitoring.
  • Track expenditures for grants, restricted funds, and special projects.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and internal financial policies.
  • Support annual independent audits, cost reports, and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain organized financial records in accordance with federal, state, and nonprofit requirements.
  • Assist with IRS Form 990 preparation and other required filings.
  • Work closely with HR, Operations, and Program Directors to ensure financial alignment with staffing models, service delivery, and documentation requirements.
  • Provide financial guidance to managers regarding budgets, spending, and compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement of financial processes and internal controls.
