About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager/Supervisor, the incumbent performs all aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and other basic duties associated with accounting procedures. The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council. The Accountant level (I, II, III, IV) will depend on the qualifications (DOQ) of the candidate. This is an in-person position.

Requirements

  • Accountant I: Associate's Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and One (1) year of related experience.
  • Accountant II: Associate's Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Accountant III: Associate's Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Accountant IV: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting concentration and Four (4) years of related experience.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment & able to multi-task
  • Flexibility and ability to assist others when needed
  • Must enjoy working with diverse groups of people
  • Office Suite and PC knowledge
  • Dedicated hard worker with ability to report to work on a daily basis

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate preparation and disbursement of checks for payment of Tribal and Enterprise operations expenses
  • Match bills and statements to purchase orders
  • Verify G/L coding and entry into accounting system
  • Assist with preparation of Tribal and enterprise operations deposits
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliation
  • Process payments for special Tribal Member programs and maintains records/spreadsheets for these special programs
  • Process bi-weekly payroll including payroll tax deposits
  • Complete quarterly payroll tax return
  • Reconcile Tribal and Enterprise operations bank account and credit card statements
  • Complete monthly cost allocation and adjusts journal entries
  • Attend and participate in professional conferences and workshops to enhance position related efficiency and knowledge
  • Maintain high confidentiality standards at all times. Is required to sign a confidentiality statement upon acceptance of employment
  • May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position
