About The Position

The Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and supporting all aspects of the month-end close process. This role delivers clear, insightful analyses of financial performance to management and helps drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and strengthen financial systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational & analytical skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
• Ability to report to work onsite at BWXT's Erwin, TN office location.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• 5-10 years' experience in accounting and finance.
• Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA or CMA certification.
• Experience with multi-site accounting operations.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and their implementation.
• Experience in SAP and OneStream.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
• Prepare and review journal entries to support the month-end close process.
• Complete monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
• Analyze capital spending and perform ROI evaluations.
• Produce timely financial reports, ad‑hoc analyses, and actionable insights for management.
• Uphold data integrity through thorough reconciliations and review procedures.
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls and support internal and external audit requests.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements.
• Assist with quarterly forecasting activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across multiple financial systems.
