About The Position

This role involves managing the financial aspects of HUD grants, including budget preparation, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with HUD regulations. The accountant will work with a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the organization's mission of providing hope and healing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Three years of relevant work experience in the accounting field
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers in a Windows environment including Microsoft Office Suite, Accounting Software, and other software programs as necessary.
  • Demonstrated advanced skill with excel.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply HUD accounting rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and skill in performing accounting procedures and practices required in an effectively operated office.
  • Ability to develop and maintain administrative systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Skill in time management and organization of job activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of HUD accounting rules & regulations experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit annual PRAC renewals to HUD for all HUD organizations in accordance with HUD’s deadlines; monitor progress and liaise with HUD Account Executives as necessary to address additional requirements, if any.
  • Develop, prepare and submit annual operating budgets to HUD for review and approval.
  • Perform reconciliation of rents and subsidies.
  • Monitor bank accounts and prepare cash flow projections on a weekly basis to ensure adequate funding is available for disbursements and program expenditures.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules for all HUD entities.
  • Liaison with Accounts Payable regarding the relevant accounts payable functions for all HUD organizations.
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and record related journal entries.
  • Provide accounting information, feedback, and financial reports to the HUD Housing Team, and others as requested.
  • Prepare and maintain required accounting tracking reports; subsidies, rents, reserve for replacement, residual receipts, surplus cash, amortization, receivables, payables and fixed assets.
  • Assist with annual financial audits, including HUD audits, Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) requirements, and other sponsor or regulatory audits.
  • Renew SAM Registration for all HUD organizations on an annual basis, ensure all are current and updated.
  • Ensure compliance with HUD accounting regulations by continuing education, training and research.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
