About The Position

PIPESTONE is hiring an Accountant for its FarmBooks team in Brandon, South Dakota. The role supports family farm clients by maintaining and analyzing financial records, preparing financial statements and reports, and translating financial data into practical insights to help producers make business decisions. The Accountant participates in farm meetings, prepares organized year-end information for tax preparers, supports new-client onboarding, and collaborates with the FarmBooks team on projects and process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Two or more years of accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly and practically.
• Passion for agriculture, rural communities, and helping family farms succeed.

Nice To Haves

• Agriculture, client accounting, or small-business experience.
• Familiarity with tax-basis accounting.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with family farm clients.
• Maintain accurate financial records and analyze general ledger accounts.
• Complete bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements, profitability reports, and other financial reports.
• Turn financial data into practical insights to help producers make confident business decisions.
• Participate in farm meetings and explain financial trends and results.
• Prepare organized year-end information for tax preparers.
• Support onboarding of new FarmBooks clients.
• Collaborate with the FarmBooks team on projects and process improvements.
