About The Position

Hastings Insurance is seeking an Accountant to join our Accounting team. In this role, you'll perform a variety of professional accounting responsibilities including financial reporting, account analysis, regulatory filings, reconciliations, and general ledger activities. Working closely with colleagues across the organization, you'll help maintain accurate financial records, support reporting requirements, and contribute to projects that strengthen our financial operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional accounting experience involving financial reporting, reconciliations, analysis, or general ledger accounting.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Statutory insurance accounting experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, analyze, and maintain financial data in accordance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and company guidelines.
  • Prepare and post journal entries while ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Research and analyze financial information, account variances, and reporting trends.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting activities.
  • Prepare regulatory and financial reports required by governmental and industry organizations.
  • Support cash management activities and related financial transactions.
  • Participate in audits and provide supporting documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business partners across the organization to gather, verify, and analyze financial information.
  • Participate in accounting and company-wide projects, including planning, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives.
  • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and communicate unusual financial activity, account variances, and control concerns.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to internal business partners as needed.
