About The Position

Independence Pet Holdings is a corporate holding company established in 2021 that manages a portfolio of pet health brands and services throughout North America, including insurance, pet education, and lost recovery services. The company builds solutions intended to simplify pet parenting and support pet well-being through a multi-brand, omni-channel approach.

The Accountant prepares journal entries, assists with reconciliations and closing processes, and documents procedures for assigned areas. The role also supports insurance accounting and reporting activities, including state filings, regulatory requests, audits, transaction processing, and commission-related work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries.
• Assist in preparing reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
• Document policies, procedures, and workflows for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Assist with external and regulatory reviews, audits, and examinations as needed.
• File with government bodies as requested and record insurance and reinsurance transactions.
• Assist with state filings and forms, including required payments to states when applicable.
• Research and respond to state requests or questions and maintain relationships with state insurance departments.
• Assist in processing transactions, cash receipts, credit card disputes, and policy cancellations.
• May assist with commission accruals, billings, and payments.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
