About The Position
The Accountant performs professional accounting work at the journey level in support of VVWRA’s financial operations. Key responsibilities include auditing, analyzing, and verifying financial records; preparing financial statements and reports; reconciling general ledger and subsidiary accounts; and supporting the Authority’s annual budget and year-end audit processes. The position may perform full-cycle Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions, as well as assist with capital asset accounting, bank reconciliations, financial analysis, and other special projects. The Accountant works closely with Finance staff and other departments to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and properly documented.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year of bookkeeping and accounting work experience.
- Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, auditing, reconciliation, financial recordkeeping, and financial reporting principles and practices.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Possession of a valid State of California Class C Driver’s License.

- Public sector experience is preferred.
