About The Position

AOC is the leading global supplier of specialty resins, gel coats, colorants and other formulations which enable customers to create robust, durable, and versatile coatings, protective barriers, colorants, visual effects, adhesives, and composites. AOC is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, team-driven Accountant to join the Accounting/Finance team. This position will support the monthly financial close process for the Americas region, with primary responsibilities including preparing and posting manual and Oracle-system journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, analyzing general ledger activity, and maintaining supporting documentation. The position will perform these responsibilities within a JSOX internal control environment, with a strong focus on accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and adherence to established accounting policies and controls. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, practical experience in corporate financial accounting, a willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field required
• 0-2 years of experience in corporate accounting or public accounting; audit experience preferred
• CPA candidate or interest in pursuing CPA certification preferred
• Working knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, including debits and credits, journal entries, accrual accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Must be willing and able to work on-site in office 5 days/week

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar ERP systems and/or familiarity with financial consolidation systems such as OneStream or Hyperion is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to identify and resolve problems effectively

Responsibilities

• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting close processes, completing assigned accounting activities accurately and within established deadlines
• Prepare, document, and post manual and Oracle-system journal entries, including recurring and other system-supported entries; Ensure entries are accurate, properly supported, and recorded in the appropriate accounting period
• Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, research and resolve reconciling items, and maintain appropriate supporting documentation in accordance with established JSOX internal controls and company accounting policies
• Analyze general ledger activity and account classifications to identify unusual transactions, errors, trends, and required adjustments
• Support accounting activities across Americas locations, including accruals, allocations, cross-charges, intercompany transactions, and other general accounting activities; Coordinate with our global finance team for accounting entries related to our global holding companies
• Monitor and reconcile intercompany accounts receivable and accounts payable activity and balances to support accurate financial reporting and consolidation
• Engage in the accounting/finance aspects of our customer rebate program with AOC Americas sales team and other finance team members; this includes recording all rebate accruals during month-end close and all payment calculations and issuances with the sales team throughout the month
• Participate in Americas lease accounting processes in accordance with IFRS 16; this includes recording needed additions/updates in lease accounting system and preparing related journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist the Americas Accounting Manager and plant controllers with recording financial transactions and with reviewing results and providing financial analysis as needed
• Support the documentation, execution, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls
• Assist with external and internal audits, including responding to requests from auditors and preparing supporting schedules and documentation
• Other duties as assigned
