About The Position
Are you an accounting professional who enjoys working with numbers, analyzing financial data, and contributing to the success of agricultural operations? Join our team and help provide accurate financial information for farrow-to-wean hog producers while supporting key business decisions. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, managing reconciliations, and reviewing profitability statements to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in agriculture
- Basic understanding of tax basis accounting
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to participate in meetings of varying lengths
Nice To Haves
- ACA or CMA certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Maintain financial records associated with farrow-to-wean hog producers
- Analyze general ledger accounts to ensure transactions are accurately recorded
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly
- Manage and reconcile accounts receivable, inventory, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, accounts payable, and accrued expenses
- Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports
- Submit weekly and monthly financial reports
- Track farm project costs and determine capitalization versus expensing
- Perform variance analysis
- Assist with year-end close processes, including preparing information for tax preparers
- Support additional accounting projects as needed
