Intact’s Global Specialty Lines business operates across more than 20 verticals in four distinct markets: U.S., Canada, UK, and Europe. This opportunity is for our U.S. team. We currently have an opening for an Accountant to join our GNUS and MGA finance team in our Plymouth, MN office on a hybrid schedule. The Accountant is responsible for moderately complex accounting activities related to the creation of IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and statutory financial statements, as well as internal management reporting. This includes analysis and interpretation of data, systems and data flows, maintenance of the general ledger, and support of the finance control environment. This role may also support specialized accounting processes and related systems integrity depending on business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, and related reports, ensuring accuracy of IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and statutory reporting.
  • Analyzes and interprets data from multiple source systems and platforms, including reconciliation between official records and international systems; leverages automated tools to streamline data reporting, analytics and data integrity processes.
  • Coordinates with business unit finance leaders and global finance teams to provide analysis of monthly results versus prior year and plan, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports and supplemental schedules.
  • Prepares journal entries, establishes accruals and maintains intercompany transactions for month end.
  • Provides support throughout the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Prepares account reconciliations including analysis, and research to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis and reporting for management.
  • Provides support for internal and external audit requirements by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
