About The Position

We are looking for an Accountant to join our head office team in Markham, Ontario. If you’re analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to make an impact, this role gives you the chance to oversee a group of companies within Park’s diverse portfolio. You’ll be involved in financial reporting and analysis, managing key relationships, and supporting risk management, compliance, forecasting, budgeting, capital structure, and taxation. Park is also proud to be a CPA Pre-Approved Program Training Office, offering CPA students the opportunity to achieve their designation while gaining meaningful, hands-on experience.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in a business and/or accounting program
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience
  • Technically strong in accounting principles, practices, and procedures; must be well-versed in ASPE
  • Knowledge of accounting, administration, and operations systems and related applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, providing support to team members and managers as needed
  • Capable of prioritizing work to meet operational timelines with excellent attention to detail and follow-up
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, flexible, and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation or working towards a designation is considered an asset
  • Experience in the Real Estate industry and/or public practice is an asset
  • experience with Sage Intacct is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly deliverables, which includes bank reconciliation, journal entries, government remittances, intercompany reconciliation and supporting schedules and statements
  • Prepare annual budget files and supporting schedules
  • Perform variance analysis on both property and consolidated levels
  • Reconciliation of GL accounts to A/R and A/P sub ledgers
  • Account analysis for capitalized assets and in-suite expenses
  • Assist in the year-end audit procedure by preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flow
  • Support external auditors during annual audit – respond to inquiries, investigate and explain discrepancies
  • Prepare corporate tax returns, partnership information returns, and non-resident tax returns
  • Invoice industrial tenants for property taxes and insurance for commercial tenants as required
  • Prepare analysis and perform ad-hoc tasks as required
