About The Position

The Accountant performs a variety of accounting tasks, including managing accounts payable and accounts receivable and recording transactions. The role supports general accounting operations, month-end close, tax reporting, payment processing, and audit preparation while following SOX guidelines and maintaining accurate controls and segregation of duties.

Requirements

Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience.
Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
Experience with Sage 300 Construction Software.
Experience in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

Prepare bank reconciliations.
Prepare and post journal entries.
Analyze and reconcile various general ledger accounts and prepare month-end workpapers.
Review and process invoices.
Follow up on invoice approvals.
Meet weekly with the Senior Accountant for payment selection.
Prepare sales and use tax returns.
Handle calls regarding accounts payable.
Reconcile vendor statements.
Post cash receipts.
Reconcile credit card transactions.
Obtain and organize information for internal and external audits.
Understand and follow SOX guidelines to ensure accurate controls and segregation of duties for compliance.
Perform other work as required or assigned.
