About The Position

PaleoHacks is seeking an Accountant to join their Finance team, supporting five U.S.-based e-commerce brands. This is a full-time, remote role with a requirement for AI-forward thinking and strong QuickBooks Online skills. The position involves maintaining accurate accounting records, performing detailed reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies, preparing journal entries, and assisting with month-end close processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles beyond basic bookkeeping and be able to work independently. The company is a remote-first organization with a small, global team, focused on growth through data-driven decisions. The Accountant will work directly with the Controller and is expected to bring efficiency improvements through AI and automation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience
  • QuickBooks Pro-Advisor Certification
  • Google Workspace experience
  • Ability to be available for at least some daily overlap with U.S. Central Time business hours
  • Comfortable leveraging AI and automation
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple U.S. companies in QuickBooks Online
  • Perform detailed bank, credit card, merchant, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies rather than simply identifying them
  • Review transactions for proper account classification and correct accounting treatment
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and month-end adjustments
  • Complete assigned portions of month-end close independently across five brands
  • Review AP and AR, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, and review merchant processor activity
  • Review inventory and COGS-related activity and perform revenue reconciliation
  • Assist with U.S. sales tax responsibilities, including reviewing state liabilities and reconciling sales tax payable accounts
  • Gather and organize financial documentation for audits and compliance reviews
  • Pull General Ledger and Trial Balance data and prepare supporting schedules
  • Work with third-party sales tax platforms and providers
