About The Position

As a valued member of the corporate accounting team, the Financial Accountant will be part of a team responsible for accurate and timely accounting and monitoring of company’s cash, self-insurance, accruals, incentive compensation, debt, leasing, and other assets and liabilities as assigned. This position will be in the Charlotte, NC headquarters and reports to the Accounting Manager.

  • Intermediate knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Up to three years’ relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with financial accounting software (OneStream, SAP) is a plus.
  • Memo writing, Balance Sheet audits, and Data Science background a plus.
  • Ability to work remotely, participate in online meetings and presentations, and report to a manager at another location.
  • Participation in community or team activities such as volunteering or cultural organizations

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries related to the assigned cost centers, including (but not limited to) amortization calculations for certain prepaid expenses, recording and tracking costs related to Cloud Computing Arrangements (ASU 2018-18), SGA intercompany charges, ERP/TICK, debt, and monthly accruals.
  • Become proficient in assessing needs for accounting guidance research and technical memos, documenting as applicable.
  • Assist the manager and Financial Planning with forecasting and budgeting for departments.
  • Record and monitor Fixed Assets and Leases in software (SAP & LeaseController)
  • Monitor AUC (Assets Under Construction) and capital approvals, working with project owners to ensure depreciation at go-live
  • Prepare account reconciliations and perform analyses on related accounts.
  • Assist other locations with review of financial statements and internal controls (occasional travel may be required).
  • Work with associated departments in understanding statements, activities, accruals, etc.
  • Work closely with bank reconciliation team as needed, including coordination of cash tracking and book overdrafts
  • Become an expert in SOX Controls, assist Manager in the preliminary and annual audit performed by external and internal auditors.
  • Assist the Manager with quarterly reporting requirements and other special projects as assigned.
